Why Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper Skipped the 2019 MTV VMAs

The Bradley Cooper-Lady Gaga red carpet reunion that could have happened tonight in Newark, New Jersey, didn't. The two A Star Is Born co-stars opted not to go to the MTV VMAs this evening despite their two major nominations there.

The two were up for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration for "Shallow." But with both categories so competitive (they're up against Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" and the Jonas Brothers' "Sucker" in the Song of the Year category alone, along with BTS and Halsey's "Boy With Luv" for the Best Collaboration category), it's understandable why they opted to skip the red carpet and sitting through the whole show.

The choice comes shortly after Gaga was seen kissing her audio engineer Dan Horton while out at brunch at the end of July. A source close to Gaga told Entertainment Tonight then that she was glad to shut down the Bradley Cooper dating talk definitively. (Both Gaga and Cooper recently split from their longterm partners.)

"All the talk of Bradley was all in fun; she's ready to dispel those rumors once and for all," the outlet's source said. That source added that "no one" is surprised that Gaga is dating Horton now since he has been working for her, and they've been spending a lot of time together naturally. "She likes to date men on her team…she is known as a workaholic, so it fits her lifestyle to meet someone while working," ET's source said.
